EXPERIENCES

1973-1977: Taught biology, general science, geography and mathematics as assistant teacher at the Ventersdorp High School. 1978-1980: Taught biology as senior teacher at the Afrikaanse Hoër Seunskool, Pretoria.

1981-1983: Head of the Science Department at the Hoërskool Staatspresident CR Swart. Taught biology to senior learners at this specific high school.

1983-1985: Head and Senior Researcher at the Human Sciences Research Council. Researched test construction and item banks (biology) at the Institute for Psychological and Edumetric Research, Human Sciences Research Council.

1986: Taught biology and biology education at certificate and diploma level to student teachers at the Further Training Campus, Vista University (VUDEC).

1987-1989: Worked as senior lecturer (General Didactics and Subject Didactics Biology) Department of Didactics, Faculty of Education, University of South Africa.

1990-1993: Appointed as Associate Professor (Subject Didactics Biology) Department of Didactics, Faculty of Education, University of South Africa.

1994-1997 Appointed as Full Professor in the Department of Didactics (Subject Didactics Biology), Faculty of Education, University of South Africa.

8.4 Writing course material for the Master's Programme in Science Education (MEd)(ScEd), which was introduced at Unisa in 1999.

8.5 Wrote course material on instruction and learning for a module of the newly proposed BSecEd degree, Unisa in 1996.

8.6 Responsible for the preliminary planning in developing the curriculum for the newly proposed Applied Education programmes, Unisa in 1995.
